A Letter to the Descendants of Jesse Nunley

TO THE DESCENDANTS OF JESSE NUNLEY
From Charles C. Freeman
(His First Blog)

Dear Cousins:

I sure miss these precious faces: Aunt Minnie, Aunt Shug, Uncle Luther, Uncle Jim, Uncle Jonah, Aunt Ada, Aunt Lucie, Uncle Will, Aunt Annie, and Uncle Charles.  These are the Aunts and Uncles we remember and looked forward to seeing every 4th of July.  Now only six of the Nephews and Nieces (grandchildren of Jesse) are left alive.

I don’t see any way we can have a Nunley Reunion this Year of the Corona Virus.  We might as well not have the reunion, because we couldn’t have a Nunley Reunion without hugging and kissing, and loving on each other.  It is impossible to have a real Nunley Reunion with these “social distance” restrictions.

Instead, I would like for all of us to stay in touch, and never let the good times together be forgotten.  We want to always remember what a wonderful family we have and the precious memories our Grandparents, Mothers and Fathers left with us.

Six Grandchildren of Jesse are left, and our average age is 80, and several of us have health challenges.  If there are Great or Great-Great grandchildren who would like to take a leadership role in continuing the Reunions in future years, we will be happy to work with them.  Any suggestions or comments about continuing this Nunley Family Tradition will be welcome.

Let’s tentatively plan to have a 4th of July Reunion in 2021.  That will mean that we have had a two year gap between reunions.  We will either be very eager for that celebration, or there won’t be enough interest to make it work.  We will see then if there is a future for our family tradition or if it has run its natural course.

Please pass this information along with out love to all your family members.

Your Cousin, Charles.
